Potato harvest in Greater Napanee

Potatoes from Napanee

We bought the seed potatoes from a Seedy Saturday event.   We kept them in the basement and sprayed water and encouraged shoot growth.

We then planted the shoots in Napanee Macro Managed Plot in end of April.

We didn’t water or do any maintenance.  This is a permaculture experiment and it is a success.

We made some potatoe curry and the taste can not be compared.

ENF Team family with children got the first round of the harvest to enjoy.

I love to have natural red potatoes. When will they be availabel?

    • ENF says:

      Hi Rahul,

Potatoes are usually harvested in late July, early August in Southern Ontario. Some farmers plant again early July for fall harvest.

Unfortunately, we only produced enough for the team families this year. We will have more next year.

Whats the difference between Red and Yellow potatoes? Does it taste the same?

    • ENF says:

      Hi Mars,

We haven’t tasted anything significantly different between these varieties. But they definitely tasted better than the 10 lbs for $2 varieties.
