More Organic veggies donated to UoG CSA Foodbank

We have donated another harvest to the University of Guelph Foodbank. We  donated 20 lbs of organic potatoes, 10 lbs of broccoli, 20 lbs of Chantenay carrots, a dozen lettuce heads, Italian viking spinach, bell peppers and asian greens.

We have three farmers using our green house to experiment with hoop house growing.  All of them are definitely convinced adding a low tunnel hoop house to a market garden enterprise has many benefits. Sustainable hoophouse mentoring

We have donated almost 1/3 of the green house space to other farmers in our incubator farm. This year three farmers are experimenting with their crops inside the green house. Here you see Peel Organics farmers trying out North Indian crops. Because of our experiment, next year atleast 5 more farmers are planning on adding hoophouses to their operation.

We made another donation of Saladmix varieties to the UofG CSA Foodbank. Foodbank staff were pleased with our tomatoes donation and was saying that the Foodbank beneficeries really enjoyed our Organic heirloom varieties. Hope they enjoy our organic greens as well.

Around 100 lbs of tomatoes donated to U of Guelph CSA Foodbank

We harvested them last night.  We got Golden Mountain, Chadwich Cherry, Yellow Pear and Hillbillies tomatoes. We will continue to support the University of Guelph Central Student Association Food Bank.  They provide food to students with emergency needs. Low tunnel greenhouse Mentorship

We built this green house by recycling all the old parts. This is the first year for us in a Green house environment and it has been a tremendous expereince. We have donated 25% of the green house to other interested farmers with no green house experience.  Currently, we have two farmers testing out the green house to see if a green house is a smart business investment for them. Our radishes were a hit at the Peel Region Eco Festival!

We represented the local organic farmers at the Peel Region’s “Life is Better In Peel” Booth. They were giving out a free vegetable plant in return for taking the carbon foot print challenge. We decided to sweeten the deal by giving out over 50 bunches of French Breakfast radishes from our green house to the participants.
